Lovely summer’s day photographing a wedding at St George’s Church, Crowhurst.
A Relaxed Summer Wedding at St George's Church, Crowhurst | Genevieve & Will
Some weddings are years in the planning with elaborate timelines and endless formalities. Others are simply about celebrating love with the people who matter most. Genevieve and Will's wedding at St George's Church in Crowhurst, East Sussex, was firmly the latter—and it couldn't have suited them better.
From the moment I spoke to them (about 6 weeks before the big day!), it was obvious that Genevieve and Will are wonderfully easy-going. They wanted to arrange a day to enjoy every moment with their family and friends, leaving plenty of room for laughter, conversation and the unexpected moments that make a wedding truly memorable…. and a sandwich for Will!
Surrounded by family, they exchanged vows in one of East Sussex's most picturesque village churches before continuing the celebrations under the warm sunshine of a beautiful spring day.
St George's Church, Crowhurst
Nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside, St George's Church is one of those places that immediately feels timeless. Dating back to the medieval period, much of the church has stood for centuries, with Norman and later medieval architecture telling the story of generations who have worshipped there. The peaceful churchyard and beautiful stone building create a wonderfully romantic setting for a wedding, full of character and history.
Standing proudly beside the church is the famous ancient yew tree, believed to be many hundreds—possibly well over a thousand—years old. Like the church itself, it has quietly witnessed countless weddings, baptisms and village celebrations over the centuries. It's impossible not to pause for a moment and appreciate the history surrounding such a special place.
One of the most personal moments of the day came shortly before the ceremony. Will's father is a campanologist had the privilege of ringing the church bells himself to celebrate his son's marriage. It was a wonderful family occassion and one of those unique touches that made the day so personal. As the joyful peal echoed across the Sussex countryside, guests gathered outside to congratulate the newlyweds with confetti and drinks before we captured a few relaxed portraits around the church grounds.
A Walk Through the Sussex Countryside
Rather than climbing into a fleet of wedding cars, everyone did something much more fitting for the relaxed atmosphere of the day—they simply walked together from the church back to Will's family home.
The route took us through beautiful golden fields, with guests chatting, laughing and enjoying the glorious weather along the way. It felt less like travelling between venues and more like part of the celebration itself. These unscripted moments are exactly why I love documentary wedding photography. Nobody was posing or thinking about the camera—they were simply enjoying being together, and those authentic interactions always make for my favourite photographs.
A Garden Pizza Reception
Back at Will's house, the garden had been transformed into the perfect setting for a relaxed summer reception. Instead of a formal wedding breakfast, guests gathered outdoors to enjoy freshly made pizzas, drinks and great company under clear blue skies. Teh pizzas were cooked fresh on site by the amazing Monte Forte.
It was the perfect reflection of Genevieve and Will's personalities. There was no pressure, no unnecessary fuss—just good food, wonderful people and a celebration that felt completely true to them. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and full of genuine happiness, proving that you don't need an extravagant venue to create an unforgettable wedding day.
A Wedding Full of Heart
Genevieve and Will's wedding was a reminder that the most memorable celebrations are often the simplest. A beautiful historic church, the sound of church bells rung by the groom's own father, a walk through the Sussex countryside and a relaxed garden reception with family and friends combined to create a day that was effortlessly elegant and full of personality.
Genevieve and Will, thank you for inviting me to be part of such a wonderful celebration. It was an absolute pleasure to capture your day, and I wish you both every happiness as you begin this exciting new chapter together.

An Intimate Micro Wedding at Brentham Club, London | Jennifer & Lincoln
Not every wedding needs a packed guest list to be unforgettable.
Jennifer and Lincoln chose to celebrate their marriage with a beautifully intimate micro wedding at Brentham Club in London, proving that sometimes the smallest weddings can be the most meaningful. With just their two sons by their side—who also had the honour of acting as their witnesses—the day was centred entirely around love, family and the beginning of a new chapter together.
There was something incredibly special about the simplicity of the day. Without the hustle and bustle that often comes with larger weddings, every moment felt personal and unhurried. It gave Jennifer and Lincoln the opportunity to truly be present with one another, sharing quiet smiles, heartfelt laughter and the excitement of finally saying, "I do."
One of my favourite aspects of the ceremony was seeing their sons play such an important role. Not only were they there to support their parents, but they also became part of the official ceremony by signing the marriage register as witnesses. It was a wonderful reminder that weddings aren't just about two people—they're about the families they create and the people who have been part of their journey. Afterwards, we took some images outside and then back at the hotel where we grabbed lunch.
As a documentary wedding photographer, these are the weddings I love to photograph. Rather than directing every moment, it’s nice to quietly observe and capture the real emotions as they unfold. The result is a collection of timeless photographs that tell the authentic story of the day, preserving not only how everything looked, but how it felt.
Micro weddings have become increasingly popular over the last few years, and it's easy to see why. They allow couples to focus on what matters most, spending quality time with the people closest to them while creating an atmosphere that feels relaxed, intimate and deeply personal.
Jennifer and Lincoln's wedding was a perfect example of this. It wasn't about the size of the celebration or the number of guests—it was about the commitment they made to one another and sharing that moment with the two people who meant the most to them.
If you are having a wedding at The Brentham Club or indeed thinking about a micro wedding, get in touch and we can have a chat about iyour plans.
Cambridge Central Mosque Nikkah Photographer
Nikkah Photographer at Cambridge Central Mosque - a beautiful blend of religion, spirituality, and family.
Like a London bus, you photograph one Nikkah at Cambridge Central Mosque and before you know it, you’re back there for another. Rozzie and Wajid first met when they were both studying at Cambridge University and so it made perfect sense that they decided to get married in Cambridge and have their Nikkah at Cambridge Central Mosque was a no-brainer.
What is a Nikkah?
For many of my couples, the Nikkah is far more than just a wedding ceremony – it is the moment they become husband and wife in the eyes of Allah. As a Nikkah photographer, I have the privilege of witnessing this deeply meaningful occasion and capturing the genuine emotions that unfold throughout the day.
A Nikkah is the Islamic marriage ceremony, centred around faith, commitment and the joining of two families. The ceremony is usually led by an Imam or another authorised religious figure and begins with the recitation of verses from the Qur'an, followed by a reminder of the importance of marriage in Islam. Marriage is viewed as a partnership built on love, mercy and mutual respect, making the ceremony both spiritual and incredibly personal.
The heart of the ceremony is the marriage contract, known as the Nikkah Nama. Both the bride and groom give their free consent to the marriage before signing the contract in the presence of witnesses. The groom also presents the Mahr, a gift given to the bride that symbolises his commitment and responsibility towards her. Once the contract has been signed, prayers are made for the newly married couple before family and friends offer their congratulations and celebrate this special milestone together.
No two Nikkahs are ever the same. Some take place in beautiful mosques surrounded by close family, while others are held in elegant wedding venues with hundreds of guests. Every culture brings its own traditions, whether the couple has Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, Arab, Turkish, African or other heritage. That blend of faith, family and culture makes every Islamic wedding unique and a privilege to photograph.
As a documentary wedding photographer, I believe the most meaningful photographs are the ones that happen naturally. Rather than interrupting the ceremony or asking people to pose, I quietly observe and capture the authentic moments as they unfold—the nervous smiles before the vows, the emotion as the marriage contract is signed, proud parents watching on, heartfelt embraces from family members and the joy that fills the room once the couple are officially married.
These are the photographs that become family heirlooms. Years from now, they'll remind you not only of how your Nikkah looked, but exactly how it felt.

New Haw Community Centre, Surrey Mehndi Photographer
Mehndi photographer in Surrey - a beautiful blend of tradition, family and food!
Asian weddings aren’t just a single day affair! They made up of several parts; there’s the engagement, the Nikkah, the Walima, the Civil Ceremony. However, most people agree that the Mehndi is their favourite part. It’s a relatively relaxed affair involving the closest family and friends…. in Asian terms, this usually still means 100-150 guests! And it’s day where everyone has the most fun. I’ve been involved in food fights, henna fights, water fights (there’s a trend), family games, food and dancing!
This Mehndi was help at New Haw Community Centre, Addlestone, Surrey and here are a couple of images.
